About Jeff Shively

Twenty years of helping people who feel stuck find a way forward.

I’m Jeff Shively. I’ve been helping individuals and couples move forward for more than 20 years. I see positive outcomes on a daily basis. Seeing people create meaningful, lasting change is what continues to inspire my work. It’s a privilege to be apart of that journey.

I earned my Master of Social Work degree in 2006 through the joint program at the University of St. Thomas and the College of St. Catherine. I’m a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin.

What it's like to work with me

Making the decision to begin counseling isn't always easy. My goal is to make your therapy as rewarding and productive as possible.

I provide an open, supportive, and confidential environment, and we go at your pace. Some people want practical tools right away. Others need to talk something through for a while before it starts to make sense. Both are fine.

Working together to understand what's keeping you stuck can be challenging. It's also rewarding, and it's the part of this work I find most worth doing.

Who I work with

I work with individuals and couples, age 18 and up, in person in Bloomington and by telehealth throughout Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin.

Most people come to me for anxiety, depression, or the effects of trauma.

If you’re not sure whether what you’re dealing with is a fit, call and ask. A brief conversation will tell us both a lot. I also regularly work with:

Anger

Codependency

Communication issues

Family conflict

Grief

Infidelity

Life transitions

Mood disorders

Parenting issues

Peer relationships

Self-esteem

Stress

Substance use
